Corvette
In January
2007 Joe Shirley contacted us here at the Horsepower House
about his very clean, stock 1997 Corvette. This Corvette is
a Tennessee car and has to pass emissions testing. The 1997
catalytic converters were aging and causing the car to fail
so he came to Bowling Green looking for advice.
Joe considered
many options and after weighing the pros and cons of each
setup he decided on the following setup.
We installed a
set of Dynatech Supermaxxx Stainless Steel Headers, Dynatech
Stainless Steel X-pipe, and a set of Dynatech Stainless
Steel High Flow Catalytic Converters. Out back Joe decided
to go with a Corsa Indy Pace Car system because of Corsa's
great ability to be quiet at cruise speeds, but aggressive
at wide open throttle. While we were installing the exhaust
we decided it would be a good time to replace the 02's so we
went with a set of NTK 02 sensors. Up top we installed a new
Halltech Stinger air intakee and an LS6 intake manifold.
After all the hardware was installed it was time to handle
the software with a custom tune on our Dynojet by Jessie.
We made a
baseline pull (Pull 002) when the car was first brought in
and it made 278hp and 296 ft/lb tq. After the hardware
install and Jessie's custom tune we made a final pull (Pull
016) the car made 311hp and 326 ft/lb tq through the
catalytic converters.
